Bully Style
A few weeks ago I picked up this adorable shirt at Forever 21. I bought one for myself and one for my sister Karalie. The shirt has an adorable pitbull on the front and a portion of the proceeds go to the ASPCA.
No matter what type of animal you're crazy about, I love the idea of sporting animal-themed clothes.
Perhaps I haven't mentioned it, but our family loves pittys. My parents' dog Deuce is the most loving, loyal, gentle dog I've ever known. They get such a bad rap, unfortunately, because of the lack of education about their breed, stereotypes and the way they are portrayed in mainstream media. (I have to limit myself on this subject, because it's a soap box topic for me. So I'll leave it at that.)
This is Deuce. Just look at that face. He wants you to know that he's a lover, not a fighter.

Mall Walker
Tonight I was a mall walker.
Actually I was just a window shopper, but the image of me in a track suit power walking in the mall is pretty rad, no?
I felt the need to have some "me time," so I ventured to one of the local malls for a coffee from Panera and some good ol' browsing.
There is something about being with my thoughts, looking at pretty things and sipping a nice, hot cup of coffee that just melts away the stress of the world for me.
While browsing, I confirmed something I began to feel a few months ago: I am L.O.V.I.N.G. the neon trend! It takes me back to my elementary days. A simpler time of t-shirt clips, scrunchies, Lisa Frank school supplies and Chic brand jeans.
Here is a little fashion file I put together with some of the gnarly (had to sneak that in) neons I'm loving:
My husband was out at a networking event tonight, so when I got home I poured a glass of red and played piano for a bit. And of course, I had to give Dart attention, too.
Tomorrow is Friday! We've got an event for one of Scott's professional associations to attend tomorrow night and a wedding on Saturday. As a hopeless romantic, I simply love weddings. There is nothing more beautiful to me than two people sharing God's love for one another. After all, it is the greatest gift we are given and that we have to give. Good night, friends!
Talk among yourselves: What trends have YOU been loving lately?

Nine to Five Fashion
I'm constantly looking for work wardrobe inspiration, like so many other women, so here are a few outfits I've recently worn to work.

Work it
On the catwalk, on the catwalk...
Or should I say, next to the catwalk?
That's where my sister and I sat for Omaha Fashion Week (OFW) this year. Front row, baby. This was our second OFW show--we attended the Spring show together earlier this year.
The weather was perfect. I was able to wear a vintage long-sleeved blouse I'd been hoping to wear, since the weather was so mild. (I was hoping it wouldn't be too hot, as I'm a major sweater!) Unfortunately we didn't take any full-length outfit shots. I paired my top with a navy pencil skirt and navy, suede platform pumps. My sister's dress is a nude, lace one-shoulder mini dress. It was adorable.
Omaha is home to a pool of amazingly-talented designers. There were about a dozen designers showing collections on the night we attended, which was the finale.
I was also told that Mondo Guerra, from season eight of Project Runway, was in attendance. Unfortunately, I didn't get to see him. Love that show.
When the show was over, we headed to Roja, a great Mexican restaurant for reverse happy hour. There's nothing like nachos and a margarita to wash down 4 hours of watching models strut their stuff on the catwalk.

Omaha Fashion Week
My sister and I recently got all glammed up to attend their spring show.
Their spring show is a bit smaller than the show in fall. Regardless, I was impressed. About a dozen designers took turns showing their collections and there were some beautiful pieces. I loved that several designers incorporated the color peach/coral. So feminine and universally-flattering.
I wanted to share a few photos. I wish I could have gotten more photos of the designs, but my little point-and-shoot just wasn't up to the challenge.
My dress is from BCBG; bag is vintage; jacket from White House Black Market; and shoes by Qupid.
My sister and I. This picture makes me laugh because it looks like our hair is connected.

Academy Awards
Last night I did two things: had an epic failure in the kitchen trying to make peanut butter cookies (don't ask) and watched the Oscars.
I've always enjoyed watching the Academy Awards and for several reasons. First, I like to imagine myself on stage, fighting tears as I gracefully deliver my acceptance speech. Okay, I'm just joking. Actually, why I really enjoy the Oscars is that it must be such an incredible feeling to be the men and women accepting those awards. The feeling of being recognized among peers and past legends as one of the best in your industry must be incredible.
My other reason for enjoying Oscar night is far more shallow: the fashion.
So without further adieu, here are my nominees for best dressed:
Halle Berry; Mila Kunis; Camilla Alves; and Hilary Swank.

There were dozens of beautifully-clothed women at the Oscars this year. I had a hard time selecting just a few to post.
Most women don't often find themselves in the market for a full-length gown. But if you have a special event coming up and want to be as stylish as one of the previously-mentioned starlets, you have to check out Edressme.com. Every year they feature "Oscar Look for Less" gowns. Here is a link to some of their past copy-cat looks. I'm guessing they'll have some of this year's Oscar looks available soon.

Hit list
As someone who finds herself often overwhelmed at department stores and malls, online shopping has become my dear friend. And not only shopping, but window shopping--browsing. Or would that be screen shopping? Don't get me wrong, I still love my in-person shopping sessions, I just find something so relaxing about sipping a cup of coffee in my yoga pants while browsing for new apparel. Here are a few of my favorite online fashion shops:
Apparel and Accessories
Forever 21 - Trendy, affordable
ASOS - Tons of variety and looks you won't find in the mall
Newport News - Great for work separates
Victoria's Secret - Casual wear, intimates
Tulle - Hip, trendy, generally good quality
Rue La La - Designer items, big discounts
6PM - Shoes, shoes, shoes
Chadwicks - Great for work separates
I purchased this bodysuit to wear with pencil skirts and trousers for work from Chadwicks. I purchased it in the red color. I've already worn it and really loved the fit and quality. And I loved not having to try to keep my shirt tucked in all day. Bonus! Even bigger bonus? It was under $10.

New Year Fashion

New Year Fashion by prairieglitter featuring lizard handbags
I'm having a root canal done on Thursday morning, so I'm not sure how I'll be spending New Year's Eve. However, if I were feeling fabulous, I'd love to slip on this outfit to ring in 2011. Who needs Times Square? I'm pretty certain I could wear this in my kitchen and feel just as glamorous.
