Failure: (noun) noun - An act or instance of failing or proving unsuccessful; lack of success.
I am a failure. I have failed. Haven't we all?
If you've ever failed at something, rest assured you're in good company. The purpose of this post isn't negative or to call attention to anyone's shortcomings. It's simply to remind myself (and everyone else) that we all endure failures. I have serious doubts that there is an individual out there who can say they've never failed.
Doesn't failure make success much sweeter?
I can say that the times I've grown and learned the most about myself are through failure.
So if you're feeling like a failure today, this week, this month or this year, chew on this:
Abraham Lincoln

• Defeated for Speaker in 1838

Walt Disney was American film producer, director, screenwriter, voice actor, and animator. One of the most well-known motion picture producers in the world, Disney founded a production company. The corporation, now known as The Walt Disney company, makes average revenue of US $30 billion annually. Disney started his own business from his home garage and his very first cartoon production went bankrupt. During his first press conference, a newspaper editor ridiculed Walt Disney because he had no good ideas in film production. (Source)

Monday: Your Favorite Day of the Week
What is your favorite day of the week?
Friday? Saturday?
Monday?
My guess is you'd be hard-pressed to find anyone to answer that question using the latter response. Just take a look at your Facebook feed Sunday night through Monday evening. You'll see everything from "Monday, ugh!" to "Is it Friday yet?"
And we can all relate to the sense of impending doom that we've felt (once or twice) on a Sunday afternoon upon realizing that we have to answer to our ever-growing to-do list the next day.
Take a minute to think about how your week would be different if Monday was your favorite day of the week--if you looked forward to Monday with anticipation rather than dread. What would that look like?
Instead of dragging yourself out of bed, you might arise a bit early and make fresh coffee. Perhaps you'd put on your favorite pair of heels or new blouse. Or maybe you would stop by the bakery to pick up bagels as a treat for your co-workers--in celebration of Monday, of course.
As the day progressed, you'd find yourself working with a bit more spring in your step. Checking items off your to-do list would happen with ease. Co-workers you meet in the hall would be met by your smile and warm greeting. After all, this day--Monday--is your favorite day of the week.
Approaching Monday with the same enthusiasm as Friday? Perhaps I'm on to something. After all, how can you have the best week possible when you approach the first day like you have to report to jail or have a tooth pulled? How can we expect to have our weeks be positive, happy and successful if they start with negativity?
Overcoming thoughts like these has definitely been a struggle of mine. Complaining seems to happen with such ease, whereas being positive can really take some deep digging.
Join me this Monday and let's dig together. After all: "Every thought is a seed. If you plant crab apples, don't count on harvesting Golden Delicious." -Bill Meyer
I hope you have a happy Monday.
